Funeral
of Mrs. Archie Kirby
Funeral services
for Mrs. Arch Kirby, who died at a Ft. Smith hospital, Saturday were
conducted at the Methodist church, Monday at 2:30 p.m. by Rev. C. C.
Burton, pastor, assisted by Rev. A. C. Smith of the Presbyterian
church. Rev. Smith read the "Parable of the ten Virgins,"
from St. Matthew, and the 14th chapter of John. Prayer was offered by
Rev. Burton, who later payed fitting tribute to Mrs. Kirby's life of
service and usefulness. The choir sang "Nearer My God to
Thee," "Asleep in Jesus," and "In the Garden."
The auditorium was
fill to capacity. All business houses closed for the funeral hour.
Many travelling from Coal Hill.
Mrs. Kirby came to
Ozark following her marriage. During her residence here she had made
many friends, who admired, respected and loved her for her true
worth. She was an industrious homemaker, a helpful mate to her
husband, a devoted mother and a loyal member of her church. She will
be missed by her large circle of friends and her church.
Besides her husband
and daughter, Milda Jean,
she is survived by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Hardgraves of Coal Hill;
four sisters, Mesdames Ewell Flake, Carl Evans of Hartman; Ben
McCorley of Clarksville, and Miss Bonnie Hardgraves of Coal Hill;
seven brothers, Claude, Earl, Howard, and Norman of Chicago; J. E. of
McGehee, and Elbert of Ft. Crook, Neb.
Pall bearers were:
J. C. Wakeman, Romie Wilson, Jeff Porter, Marion Cannon, W. W.
Reeves, Van Carter, Luke Jackman and Jimmie Anderson. |
